GYMZYG: A custom fit gym clothing brand!

In the third instalment of this series, we sat down with Muhammad Azmi, Founder at GYMZYG. GYMZYG is a clothing brand that started trading in 2023 and offers a new sizing metric for online orders called GYMZYG Fit. They worked with designers to create detailed sizing measurements that aim to fit a larger percentage of the population and aim to become the go to brand for custom fitting gym clothing.

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

I have been hard working from a young age and have always strived for a better future. I launched GYMZYG recently and continue to work full time to help achieve my dream of making this business successful.

Q: What was the inspiration behind GYMZYG and how did it all start?

As a tall and slim person, I've always struggled to find clothing that fits properly. Oversized clothing would often look like a dress on me, which led me to develop the idea for a custom fit clothing brand with a streamlined ordering process.

During the pandemic, I worked on an algorithm that accurately predicts body measurements by asking a few simple questions. This led to the creation of a high-quality clothing line with sizes ranging from 5'1 to 6'7, accommodating different weight ranges within that height range.

Our algorithm is also tailored to the Muslim market, allowing customers to specify their desired fit. With this approach, we offer a wide range of sizes, minimizing the need for customers to buy and return products from other stores.

Q: What makes GYMZYG stand out from the rest?

Our custom fit AI solution definitely makes us different. GYMZYG Fit is our ground-breaking new system which allows us to accurately predict your size. We currently have it established and fully working in our male products and are working behind the scenes to produce the same accuracy for our female range as well.

The idea is that normally you will go to a shop and pick up a size (S, M, L) and it may or may not fit you. It may be tighter in some areas but baggy in others and if you go up a size up or down it still doesn’t fit right. This problem is even worse when ordering online because you can’t even try the clothing on and a product in one store might fit ok-ish but the same size in another store won’t fit at all. It’s the age-old problem and we believe we have solved it.

Q: What do you envision for the future and where should people go to get their custom fitted gym clothes?

InShAllah we hope to be able to deliver all over the world and have a brand to be proud of. We're currently working on the AI sizing solution for females and we one day hope to open a gym and store for our products.
